Soul Cycle

Earlier this year I attended a Target Pop Up featuring Target’s partnership with SoulCycle. I had heard all the hype about SoulCycle through Instagram & fitness blogs, I was eager to try it out for myself! Let me tell you, the HYPE is real y’all. My first class experience was amazing! It was like nightclub meets cycling meets yoga. You’re probably asking, how is that even possible, well it is. During my first class I meet Reed, a soul cycle instructor who is also a fashion film director and model!

I know! Reed was so energetic and positive! He lead the class to the beat of the music which is how all SoulCycle classes go. He loves Beyonce so we were jamming out the entire time! I left feeling renewed and full of energy (and REALLY sore). It was one hell of a work out and I was eager to do it again!

Luckily I live close to a gorgeous SoulCycle location here in Coral Gables (Miami) located at the upscale outdoor mall called Merrick Park Village. Parking in the deck is always complimentary with validation for 2 hours.

I got to try out the location for one month, and I have nothing but positive feels about this establishment! Here’s some more details about the location and the SoulCycle experience.

The studio is immaculately clean, all white, and small in size. The front desk is where you’ll find desk attendants whom greet you, help you sign into the class (you get to choose your bike, you can also do this online on the SoulCycle app), and get your bike shoes. For the first class the shoes are free, after that, they cost $3 to rent per class, many people purchase the shoes to have a pair of their own. The bike shoes are made to lock into the pedals of the bike. You basically become ONE with the bike, which I feel is what really makes the difference between a SoulCycle bike and a basic bike at a basic gym’s cycle class. Basically, SoulCycle is far from BASIC.

The amenities are fresh and clean. There’s SoulCycle staff that is dedicated to cleaning the locker room, bathrooms, showers, towels and studio consistently. Major timesaver to be able to shower right after and get ready in the changing rooms that I must add are so well lit! The bathrooms/changing rooms have all the supplies you need: tampons, hair ties, air fresheners, razors, shaving cream, spray deodorant, face wash, and lotion. I don’t think I mentioned it all, but you can really tell that whoever came up with the concept was a stickler for detail, which is totally appreciated.

Each location also sells Soul Cycle apparel! You can also purchase online.

The studio has 52 bikes, lights are low, there are candles lit on the edge of the instructor’s platform.  The ambiance is calm yet energized. It reminds me of a yoga studio. Staff is always in the room to help get you set on your bike and make sure the seat works for your height etc. Each bike has a rack underneath the seat to hold small dumbbells. What are the dumbbells for you ask? An arm-work out DUH. I want to leave a few surprises for you to experience if you ever try a class but I will say that SoulCycle is really a full body workout! There are lots of non-leg focused movements incorporated into the 45 minute class.

Like any workout you get what you put in. I was burning anywhere from 500 to 800 calories per class, according to my heart rate monitor/apple watch. I always left class feeling uplifted, full of energy, and like I had the best workout ever. You’ve really got to try it for yourself! Classes are pretty pricy, but I think you’re really getting what you pay for. Take advantage of the first time ride class which is $20.

I got to host a small party with the COGA Soul Cycle here in Miami, with Reed as the instructor! It was a great time!

I always recommend to make time for your self-care. I think it’s so important to find a space to take care of you.  SoulCycle gives you that amazing work out and a soulful 45 minutes that allow you to leave all your worries outside the studio, giving you time to focus on you. If you’re in MIA, check out the Coral Gables location! Mention you heard it from me 🙂 and if you’re not in the sunny state, check out to find a location near you!

Disclaimer: I was provided complimentary SoulCycle classes in exchange for a review. All opinions are my own.
