Make Time For Yourself

“Each positive thought, every vibrant attitude, all purposeful activities water the seeds for success along your path. You will encounter many seeds for success today. Pay attention to these and feed them appropriately. Then maintain their beautiful growth through conscious self-care.” ― Rebecca Gordon

Without a balance between your mind and body, getting things done can surely become exhausting. Finding time for yourself to relax, meditate or just watch a few shows on TV can help to slow you down, and let you recharge your batteries. I am very passionate about self-care and making a conscious effort to be aware of my needs both mentally and physically.  You have the power to improve your health & well-being, but it all starts with looking inside. I encourage you all to take a moment to reflect on when the last time you gave your mind a moment to relax? If you can’t remember, that’s okay, below I’m sharing a few tips that [from my experiences] have helped me to find relaxation and that overall nothing-ness I so desperately needed.

  1. Make A Meditation Routine – Start each day or end each day (or both) with meditation.  Sit in a quite, uncluttered area of your home, close your eyes, and focus on your breathing.  If you choose mornings, use this time to clear your mind, and set positive intentions for your day ahead.  Meditation is difficult at first, and takes a lot of practice to learn to shut off your thoughts and go into a place where you experience complete relaxation (I’m still learning)… however the process and habit of incorporating this into your daily routine is very beneficial to your overall wellbeing, including your spirit. According to Deepak Chopra (one of my favorite people ever), research has shown that for a positive new habit to take root requires 3 weeks of daily practice. Don’t let your own self-judgment get you off track. It is natural for the mind to wander during meditation. . . With that said give yourself that time to grow, remember that with practice you’ll get better & better.
  2. Listening To Music With Meaning – The power of music is untouchable. I’ve created different mixes that include instrumentals and affirmations. One of my favorites is called the Soul of Healing Affirmations.  Laying down, and listening to soft sounds and listening to affirmations is one of my favorite things to do to relax.  The affirmations leave you feeling more at peace. I know it sounds silly to some, but don’t knock it till you try it for yourself!
  3. Step Out Into Nature – Another way to spend the time you make for yourself, is in nature. There is nothing more beautiful than the feeling of being somewhere outside that makes you feel small and reminds you of how amazing the world we live in is. I find myself feeling the most refreshed and relaxed when I step outside to admire the sunset.

I hope this post inspires you to make time for yourself and served as a reminder to make a conscious effort to look inward to find what you needs for you.

Love, Shayda

I love this article and I love your advice. Needed to hear that in this moment! Meditation is something I’ve been constantly trying to get into. The sound bowl version is wonderful, and Headspace is a great app to use at home as well. Anyways, thank you for the inspiration! xoxo
